Kate McKee is a doctoral student in Italian at the University of Oxford. Her research interests include the due- and trecento Italian poets, the history of the body and its senses, and female religious writing of the late Middle Ages. She is also interested in translation and accessibility of Italian texts by women writers for global audiences.

Kate’s current doctoral project explores the concept, phenomenon, and implications of smells and smelling in medieval Italian literature, with a particular focus on the works of Dante, Petrarch, and Boccaccio. The project is jointly funded by the AHRC OOC DTP, All Souls College, and the Clarendon Fund.

Kate holds a BA in Italian Studies from Bowdoin College (Brunswick, Maine, USA) and a MSt in Modern Languages (Italian) from the University of Oxford (New College).
